Observe and Interact
We assess your site from the air and on the ground before we prescribe — patterns, climate, and resources first.
Who we are
Regenerative land, shelter, and community design for Alberta and the West — design that gets dug, planted, and proven on the ground.
Expanding Edge is a sustainability services company rooted in Alberta’s Sturgeon Watershed, dedicated to regenerative land, shelter, and community design. We emphasize water conservation through a “slow, spread, sink” approach, ecological regeneration, biological diversity, and climate resilience — so clients save time and money while producing valuable yields and long-term success.
Too many permaculture projects stop at the whiteboard. Our standard is different: satellite-informed design, cold-climate expertise, and implementation capacity that scales — so Alberta acreages, Prairie farms, and Western Canadian stewards get living systems, not just PDFs.
Our field practice is guided by classic permaculture principles, stated in plain language for landowners:
We assess your site from the air and on the ground before we prescribe — patterns, climate, and resources first.
Gradual, cost-effective interventions that you can fund and steward, rather than one-shot overbuilds.
Layered plantings, guilds, and habitats that strengthen resilience and support wildlife as well as yields.
The three ethics — Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share — sit underneath every engagement, from a free discovery tool to a multi-year build. Explore the full principle set in our learning hub, or walk through how projects move from Discovery to Manage.
Professional permaculture services for farms, acreages, homesteads, and land projects across Alberta and Western Canada. See services & rates for categories and transparent pricing.
We are deliberately building the largest full-service permaculture implementation company in Canada. Leadership for us is measured in hectares improved, water retained, food systems established, and clients who still harvest and regenerate years later — starting in Alberta, expanding across the West.
Regenerative design here is not a copy-paste of coastal or tropical systems. Our consulting and builds account for:
We don’t recommend plants or ponds in isolation — we design complete systems and can help build them.
Real topographic, climatic, and soil data specific to your property — not generic templates.
Recommendations you can fund and implement with realistic Alberta and Prairie timelines.
Plans for 10, 20, and 50 years of increasing productivity and resilience on Canadian land.
